For the first time in my career, I’ve decided if any guitar deserved a name this old girl does. So as a tribute to the brave Sophie Scholl (whose ultimately fatal efforts to alert Germany to the full horror of the Nazi regime heralded the beginning of its downfall) I have called my 1944 Martin, Sophie, and on the 4th August in Sidmouth and on 10th August in London I will be proud to play the song I was commissioned to write for her “For Sophie, This Beautiful Day” which I’m happy to say has been picked up on social media and is spreading her story all over the world.
