THE DREAMED AND THE DROWNED is collection of thirteen previously unreleased songs from one of Britain’s finest Singer/Songwriters and Storytellers. Compiled by Stephen Jordan at the Bodleian Music Library, who said “Together I believe they make up the most varied and multi-faceted release yet from Reg’s vast repertoire…. This is Reg Meuross at his most eclectic and inspiring best.”
The topics covered by these songs are typically diverse, from the title track, which deals with the story of The Maiden of Hoy and her errant Sailor, to the 2009 Cumbrian Floods, a poignant story of forbidden love during the Eyam Plague, the personal tale of a couple Reg met in The Falkland Islands and their terrifying experience of the invasion, and the story of The Cinderella Man, James Braddock.
The recordings were made between 2006 and 2010 and feature the core of Reg’s backing musicians and some of the finest players in the land in their own right, including Sarah Allen, John ’Rabbit’ Bundrick, Roy Dodds, Simon Edwards, Bethany Porter and Miranda Sykes.
